Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min on-site briefing at the Jamboree… “Additional support for equipment and manpower through collaboration between the private sector, the government, and the military”
Regarding the 2023 Saemangeum World Jamboree, Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min said on the 6th, “After the Korean government decided to fully support the World Jamboree, the site is gradually finding stability.”
In a briefing held at the World Jamboree Press Center in Saemangeum, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do this morning, Minister Lee said, “Currently at the World Jamboree site, the central and local governments, the military and the private sector are working together to solve the difficulties of the participants one by one.”
Minister Lee said, “In addition to the existing Organizing Committee, the Jamboree will be completed safely and happily with additional support from the government’s equipment and manpower, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Saemangeum Office, the military, the police, and the fire department. We are doing our best in each field to make it possible.”
Regarding the heat wave, “We added 132 air-conditioned buses to help the participants cool off from the heat, greatly expanding the total number of buses to 262.” It is running,” he explained. The county installed 69 additional shade canopies throughout the territory.
In addition, a total of 8 water play facilities were installed so that scouts exhausted by the heat could cool off. An additional 930 cleaners were added to the toilets and showers, and a total of 1,400 people are managing cleanliness and hygiene. Minister Lee said, “As promised, we are providing at least 5 bottles of cool mineral water per person a day,” and took measures to ensure that people can bring enough wherever they need it. To ensure sufficient ice supply, 16 refrigerated trucks are in operation and ice boxes are provided.
The vine tunnel, where you can escape the heat, has increased electricity supply capacity and installed lights on the floor so that you can enjoy it even at night. An additional 330 street lights were installed in the estate to illuminate the streets so that people can walk safely at night.
Minister Lee said that there was a helping hand for the success of the Jamboree from private companies and other local governments.
Many private companies sponsored 1.68 million bottles of bottled water and ionic beverages and 10,000 pest repellents, and other local governments also provided support for 50 portable toilets and 7 garbage disposal pressure roll boxes.

Minister Lee said, “We have decided to postpone the safety issue because we must not be vigilant at all.”

On the 5th, President Yoon Seok-yeol instructed Seoul, Pyeongchang, Gyeongju, and Busan to urgently add programs that allow people to experience Korean culture outside the Jeonbuk region.
