During the 151st The Open held in Liverpool, UK from the 20th to the 23rd, Doosan provided support for hosting the World Expo 2030 Busan (hereinafter “Busan Expo”) in the country.
As the official sponsor of The Open, Doosan delivered the message of promoting the Busan Expo to the galleries, local residents, and tourists by operating branding buses and setting up exhibitions to promote the bid for the Busan Expo inside and outside the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, the venue for the event.
Doosan put up the Busan Expo banner at the Doosan product exhibition hall inside the Royal Liverpool Golf Club to publicize the Busan Expo bid to visitors. At this outdoor exhibition hall located in the passageway of the galleries, crowds of visitors gathered to view Doosan’s exhibits of small heavy equipment, forklift trucks, and collaborative robots, accumulating about 260,000 visitors to the Doosan exhibition hall this year.
Moreover, Doosan operated a branding bus to promote the Busan Expo bid not only to the galleries, but also to local residents and tourists in Manchester and Liverpool. During the opening period, the branding bus, which was covered entirely with images of Gwangan Bridge in Busan, the Busan Expo emblem, and catchphrases to encourage success of hosting the Busan Expo, made 10 round trips daily from downtown Manchester to the Liverpool venue, conveying messages of support for a successful bid to host the Busan Expo.
Also, Doosan posted an advertisement delivering a message of support for hosting the Busan Expo on about 100,000 draw sheets distributed for free to the galleries at The Open. A TV commercial that conveyed messages of support for hosting the Busan Expo aired on NBC Sports and NBC Golf Channel broadcasts that relayed The Open in North America, also. Additionally, a TV commercial will be broadcast during the AIG Women’s Open (formerly British Women’s Open) to be held in August.
For the last 14 years since 2010, Doosan has been participating as an official sponsor of The Open, one of the four major golf tournaments with the longest history and tradition. Last year, The Open was broadcast in 198 countries and watched by 508 million households, and exposure for the Doosan logo through TV and digital channels has recorded a cumulative 65 hours, 45 minutes and 39 seconds.
