The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 14th that it will hold a ‘June Travel Month’ campaign from this day to the 30th of next month in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization to promote the charm of local tourism and promote domestic demand through domestic travel.

The government designated ‘Travel Month’ as ​​a major policy to stabilize people’s livelihoods last February and is promoting it twice, in March and June for the first time this year.

During the ‘March Travel Month’ campaign held in early spring, both total national movement (269 million people) and tourism consumption (KRW 13.5 trillion) increased by 3.1% compared to the same period last year, which was usually the off-season for travel. It has been shown to have brought vitality to various parts of the region since its inception.

In this ‘June Travel Month’ campaign, more than 240 organizations, including the government, local governments, and the private sector, collaborated to prepare more diverse and abundant benefits and entertainment than last March.

First, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism expanded the scope and content of transportation discounts compared to last March.

When purchased in combination with existing local tourism-linked products (accommodation, experience tickets, etc.), you will receive a high-speed rail (KTX) discount (50% on weekdays, 30% on weekends), a 50% discount on tourist train fares, and a Naeilro Pass discount for young people (1%). 10,000 won) can be used through the KORAIL application (app), website (web), and on-site ticketing.

The digital tourism resident card, which is currently operated in 15 regions, will be applied to 19 additional local governments this year, including Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do, Andong-si, Gyeongbuk, and Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do.

The newly introduced regional services will be available from June 1st in line with ‘Travel Month’, and discounts will be offered at over 800 tourist attractions in 34 regions.

In addition, in collaboration with KORAIL, high-speed rail discounts have been newly added for areas where digital tourist identification cards are issued.

You can receive a 35% discount on high-speed rail products arriving at 12 nearby stations in areas that operate digital tourist ID cards if you use them during specific times (9 p.m. to 7 a.m.).

Among train users bound for the region, if you visit a digital tourism resident card participating company and receive an on-site discount certificate, you will receive a 20,000 won discount coupon for high-speed rail.

A 50,000 won discount coupon for lodging products priced at 70,000 won or more in 12 metropolitan cities and provinces across the country, including Gyeongbuk and Gangwon, will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis from the 28th to the 30th, and from the 3rd of next month, reservations for lodging products priced at 20,000 won or more will be accepted in non-metropolitan areas.
