On-Site Tour: Czech President Visits Doosan Skoda Power

– Planned as part of industrial tour taken around Plzen region, with special visit to steam turbine manufacturing facility
– Doosan Skoda Power, holder of 150-year history and a track record of supplying over 540 steam turbines worldwide

Doosan Enerbility announced on March 26th that Czech President Petr Pavel had visited Doosan Skoda Power, its Plzen-based Czech subsidiary, on March 25th (local time). Those who were in attendance that day included key figures, including Youngki Hong, South Korean Ambassador to the Czech Republic;  Seungwoo Sohn, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services Business Group and Youngki Lim, CEO of Doosan Skoda Power.

The visit was made as part of an industrial site tour being taken by President Pavel to major businesses in the Plzen region. On his visit to Doosan Skoda Power, the President was able to view the steam turbine manufacturing facility and hear a briefing about Skoda Power’s preparations for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant, as well as the plans for generator-related technology exchanges being led by Doosan Enerbility.

The Czech Republic had selected Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) as the preferred bidder for its new project, the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant project, in July last year.  Once the contract for the Dukovany plant is finalized, Doosan Skoda Power will be supplying the steam turbines, while the main components of the nuclear plant, such as the reactor and steam generator, will be supplied from Korea.

“It is truly meaningful for us to have this chance to provide President Pavel with a first-hand view of our steam turbine manufacturing capabilities during his visit here,” said Seungwoo Sohn, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services Business Group. “We will continue to do our utmost to contribute to the development of the Czech power industry going forward.”

Doosan Skoda Power is a power equipment manufacturer with a long history spanning over 150 years.  The company has supplied 26 nuclear steam turbines to date to three European countries  – the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Finland.  Having supplied more than 540 steam turbines to clients around the world, the company is solidifying its position as a key player in the global power market.
