President Yoon Seok-yeol attended the ‘Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Launch Ceremony’ held at the Baengnyeong Art Center of Kangwon National University on the morning of the 9th and said, “We will actively support the development of high-tech industries so that Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province can realize its vision of ‘future industrial global city’.”

The ceremony was held to publicize the official inauguration (June 11) of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province established by the ‘Special Act on the Establishment of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province’ enacted in June of last year. About 1,600 people attended the ceremony, including Gangwon-do Governor Kim Jin-tae, Gangwon-do Council Chairman Kwon Hyuk-yeol, members of the National Assembly, and Gangwon-do residents.

In his congratulatory address, the President delivered his congratulatory words, saying, “Gangwon-do, which has a wonderful natural environment and rich resources, will now develop dramatically based on advanced science and technology.”
